I loved the space, I do love the mix of industrial and reinvention, I love seeing the girders and the buildings previous life as power station and coal store before being converted into this restaurant. It has a really spacious seating area, with both communal tables and more intimate areas tucked away.

… The Red Brick Barns are gorgeous, with so many individually crafted rooms, as well as on site barn cinema, hot tub hidden in the woods and a delicious menu of dining experiences that you can have delivered to your room or if there is a group you could have a private meal in the curated dining barn.

Kudu Grill has made it’s home in the old Truman’s Pub in Peckham, the signage is quite subtle (although the building is black) that we almost missed it and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when we stepped through the velvet curtains.

The plum tart images are a riff on a lovely recipe from Nadiya Hussain’s book Fast Flavours - she used peaches but they were out of season when I made this.

I’ve been photographing at these hidden woods in Chalfont St Giles for a few years now, each time I arrive the experience awaiting the lucky diners has evolved and deepened. New touches added, an elevation of the services offered whilst still keeping the fundamental principles that I fell in love with on my first visit when Nomadic was exploring it’s style and finding it’s flow and rhythm.

This was a collaboration with Weetabix & Alpro to come up with a plant based swap for Veganuary. Something beyond pouring oat milk onto Weetabix. I don’t know about you but I just warm comforting food during these dark cold months and I know Banana Bread is sooo 2020/Pandemic Food but this is a Loaf - there’s a difference, no? It’s low in refined sugar and eaten warm it will convince you that the day ahead will be great. It’s also a handy sandwich swap for the lunch boxes.

and I’m feeling a little out of sorts. December is usually quiet for me, work wise but after a November lockdown it’s even more so, which makes me feel a little more lost than usual at this time of the year. Normally I relish the fresh start of January approaching - new diaries and notebooks and grand planning - but when the future feels uncertain (despite the news of an approved vaccine) it just doesn’t feel right to think about travel adventures or grand work ideas when really we can only still take it a few days at a time.

As we enter lock down part II - albeit a watered down version as schools remain open which my sanity thanks the powers that be for - I had no intention other than finishing up the work I still had booked and pushing any worries about the work that got cancelled aside. I certainly wasn’t going to make sour dough (I couldn’t even contemplate it in LD1) but I suddenly felt sorry for the kids, all the little events, trick or treating and waving sparklers around madly in front of a towering thrown together bonfire and the fact the bloody clocks have changed so it’s just dark all the time, I thought I’d make them a special cake.

We spent most of last week enjoying Cornwall, staying in The Stables, a luxury 3 bedroom self catering cottage in St Austell.

Early August, we experienced the best Norfolk has to offer with Raynham Norfolk at their Wild Meadow Glamping site.

This was their soft launch and we were invited to test things before they officially opened the following weekend (now fully open!), we were to be filmed and photographed for their online sites and of course, take a few photos ourselves.
