Nomadic Dinners | An Autumn Feast

I’ve been photographing at these hidden woods in Chalfont St Giles for a few years now, each time I arrive the experience awaiting the lucky diners has evolved and deepened. New touches added, an elevation of the services offered whilst still keeping the fundamental principles that I fell in love with on my first visit when Nomadic was exploring it’s style and finding it’s flow and rhythm. It's essentially about great food, in beautiful natural surroundings, using foraged, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients cooked on open fires and sharing this experience with friends and new friends alike at the communal hand carved wooden tables. (as much as gathering with strangers is allowed during these changing times).

The flow of the day now feels completely effortless, regular Chef Tomer creates most of these inspirational feasts, although Nomadic have a rotation of other Chefs/Michelin Star Chef's/ past Masterchef winners and runners up, keen to come and create equally outstanding dishes in the most simple way.

After the welcome drink and prior to the feast, professional foragers take guests on a tour of the woods to reveal all the hidden in plain sight food we could all be making use of, imparting fascinating knowledge of how to use these finds and advice on what to avoid. A really great introduction into the beginnings of a life of foraging - if you so wish. I have followed along on lots of tours and each one I learn something new - and yes I'm only there to take the photos, but I love to learn. This tour was all about mushrooms and the colours and varieties that were found were stunning.

I've really, really missed travel this year and this was a really wonderful escape. Sometimes my work really doesn't feel like work.
