The One to One Workshop | Food, Florals & Flatlays
“Thank you Catherine for a fantastic 1-2-1 session. Your home studio is just stunning, filled with light and inspiration. We covered so much on the day, lighting, composition, styling, editing, camera kit and so much more. You were so open about how you work and I felt really excited to get back and practice my new found skills. I would definitely book a 1-2-1 with Catherine whether you are just beginning or have more experience, Catherines knowledge and gentle teaching manner is just what I needed. Oh...and lunch was soooo yummy. Thank you so much Catherine, I loved meeting you! ”
We plan this One Day Workshop around you.
If you want to start or develop your current skills to create consistent and compelling imagery for your own website/portfolio/social media then this bespoke day will leave you feeling motivated, inspired and ready to take your imagery and business to the next level.
what we can cover
light
Learn about how to work with natural light, what is the best light, how to find it and quick, easy tips that you can apply to your own home or work space to create consistent, beautiful naturally lit images.
Camera settings
Want to get to get out of Auto? And more importantly want to know WHY you want to move on from Auto as quickly as possible?
We will spend the day working in Manual Mode to get you used to your camera and how the different settings create different types of images.
STYLING
Creating evocative, effortlessly styled images takes time and patience, there is no short cut but there are starting points that will get you to the end result more quickly and that will elevate your images to a new level.
VIsual storytelling
What makes an image compelling, what makes you stop and linger instead of scrolling on by or clicking next? Tips to always keep storytelling in the forefront if you want to create appealing pictures.
Editing Tools
Lightroom, Photoshop, Apps, we can discuss and go through some or all of these
Composition
learning the rules, working within them and then breaking them too!
We can cover all of the above or something specific from developing your style and visual storytelling, working confidently with natural light, creating a specific mood with props and light, styling tips and creating a compelling scene. As well as technical aspects of camera settings, Lightroom, discussing Social Media platforms and if you are feeling brave a critique of your own website/portfolio.
I run these workshops from my home studio in West Sussex, we are 1 hour from London Victoria or London Bridge stations via a direct train. My studio is filled with light, backdrops and lots of props to create our images. Food on the day is included any allergies do let me know beforehand.
“THANK you massively. I have a lot more confidence and was able to try and recreate what we did on the day back at home full of ideas. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you, improving my photography and having a lot of fun too (oh and a lovely lunch). Was definitely worth the investment in a 1:1. Couldn’t have wished for a better day. All I can hope for is a studio set up like yours one day!
